Our History

Peters Family Living is one of the oldest continuously family owned and operated businesses in the Arkansas River Valley today. The firm was founded in 1944 by F. C. Peters and W. A. Baldwin and was originally known as Peters-Baldwin Company. Twelve years later, Baldwin sold his interest in the firm with owners then becoming F. C. Peters, his wife, Lillian, and his two sons, Bill and Flave. In 1956, the business was incorporated under the name, F. C. Peters and Sons, Inc. In 1975 F. C. retired and sold the business to his two sons. In 2001, Flave retired and Bill is now the principal. In March, 2001, the family business underwent extensive enlargement of its Furniture and Appliance departments and the name was changed to PETERS FAMILY LIVING.

This historic business has become an anchor in Downtown Russellville, occupying a city block with the main front facing Hwy 7 with a large parking lot and the "other front" facing the downtown business district. The business is well known to offer quality products in Furniture and Appliances with the best possible customer service.

Our Culture

Over a half century ago, F. C. Peters had a vision of creating a furniture and appliance business that would become known for providing the best in Customer Service. He would be proud that his two sons maintained his vision of "Focus on The Customer Ahead of Bottom Line" which has resulted in Four Generations of Satisfied Customers doing business with his creation.

The name, Peters Family Living, reflects the firm's warm, friendly and caring family culture. While other furniture and appliance stores have come and gone, Peters Family Living continues to thrive by Dealing with Customers, Employees, and Vendors in an Ethical Manner. This is the only way Peters knows to conduct business. Peters Family Living is in the "People Business" and has become a "Symbol of Trust" in the River Valley.

Our Commitment

When customers have a problem with purchases made at Peters, they know the problem will be addressed promptly and properly. If an appliance fails, we will send our own technician out to check it, or make arrangements for service from one of our contract service companies, or in the case of warranty service, Peters customers do not have to call an 800-Number. Peters will call the 800-Number for its customers and fight the battle on the phone for its customers. Peters will either make warranty furniture repairs or arrange for its contracted agent to have it done. Bottom Line: A purchase at Peters will turn into a positive relationship that will last for years.

The staff carried furniture through the store for me so I could see the pieces together. Many times and many pieces. We ordered two chairs and a love seat. We brought our pieces home and have been delighted with our purchase.

I was looking for a $2.00 water line connector that none of the hardware stores seem to have in stock. Since I knew you folks installed fridges with water line I took a chance that your folks might have one. I was greeted immediately upon entering the store by a nice lady (whose name I didn't capture {it was Connie}) like she had known me since early childhood. She understood my need and routed me to one of your service people (it was Lloyd) who was exceedingly courteous and helpful. It took a while, but he found a better part than I was seeking. I know it took more than $2.00 worth of time and effort, but the courtesy, helpfulness and attitude are the attributes that continue to bring local folks into your business. I just hope that you will share with your folks that an appreciative and satisfied customer appreciates their friendly service and attendance to need and detail."

“I just wanted to let you know that we have now had our Speed Queen washer and dryer for just about a year. I cannot tell you how happy we are we went with the Speed Queen brand. Last spring, our washer went out. When looking for a new model the only certainty we had was we wanted a top loading washer. We had heard horror stories about the smell that the front loading washers developed. While trying to find the right washer, we used a close relatives new top loading washer with the new smaller agitators. Frustration set in when we realized just how long it took to just wash a normal load of clothes. When I came into the store, Bill mentioned the Speed Queen. I have always known Speed Queen to be a commercial brand so I was rather surprised that they were now making washers and dryers for the home. Bill had mentioned that word-of-mouth on this brand really drove the sales, and he could not have been more right. We can have a load of clothes washed, dried, folded, and put away before you can get a load washed in other top loaders. The warrantee on this set is unmatched. I could not imagine buying anything else other than a Speed Queen, now."
