A waste of money

19 years of living in a condo, I never had this problem with a washing machine until now. Spending over $700. Dollars you would think I would get at least a year out of this product...not! The spin cycle does not work and I have to hand wring every time I use it. What a waste of $$$??

I purchased this washer in December of 2014 and it was problematic from day 1. A few minutes into the load, it would flash the F6 code and I would have to reset my breaker to get it working again. Then recently that fix stopped working. I called Maytag who sent someone over to look at my machine. The person they sent tried a couple things but quickly told me that the F6 code means my machine needs a new motor. The quote for this was $550. It's certainly not worth fixing at that price so we now have to buy a new washer after only 2 1/2 years. I guarantee you we will not be purchasing another Maytag.

Horrible machine!!

Bought in July 2014 and had issues with it spinning out. We would have to drain it from the bottom to get our clothes out which is quite a chore in an RV. One year later they said that the part needed was unavailable and sent us a new machine. Immediately after warranty was out the same issue, wouldn't spin out. I have been dealing with this for a year now and am about to lose it! It has almost became a target for shooting practice many times! Thank goodness I have learned how to spin it out in manual mode but it doesn't spin before rinse so the soap never gets pulled out of my clothes. Everyone I know with this machine has had the same issue and I'm wondering why in the world they haven't recalled these pieces of junk !!!

I bought this washing machine 4 months ago. I wanted the new kind without the big thing sorry can't think of what they call it in the middle. I had a front end loader in which I loved and had it for years. I hate this washing machine wish I had left it in the store. It starts washing with hardly any water in it. It beats the clothes up but I have to wash my clothes. I'm forced to use it. I thought maytag was the best washer you could get but I was wrong. I want to give it 0 star. Even on the longest cycle it doesn't get clothes clean. Take my advice and don't buy this one. I would buy a front end loader. Wish maytag would take it back. I loath this washing machine.

I moved into my newly renovated apartment May 23 and watched my landlord install the machine brand new out of the box. From day one it has been nothing but a headache! The machine start and hold button doesn't START the washer. The washer gives F22 errors all the time and when a tech came out to investigate he found nothing wrong. We did have an issue with leaking and found that a sock had gotten sunken into the drum. That was repaired. The other issues still occur. It takes atleast 20 mins for my family to get the washer to START AND WE PRAY THAT IT COMPLETES A FULL CYCLE bc often times our clothes are SOAKING WET! The drain and spin option does NOTHING!! I hate this machine!!

We purchased this washer, Maytage Neptune, model MAR6700AWW, in June 2006. Our previous machine was a Kenmore that was 20+ years old. We gave it to our daughter. It is still in service. This new machine was an upgrade. It has functioned as expected with one exception. It vibrates during the spin cycle to the extent that it has to be pushed back into place when the cycle is complete. My wife cannot move the machine. This is very frustrating to know that if I'm not there the machine will stay in the way of foot traffic. I do not want to pay for a service call without having some kind of idea of, 1 if it can be fixed, 2 the approximate cost.

After 1.5 years, the drum of the machine has sheered from the paddle tearing clothes. After multiple phone calls and a service appointment they changed my "free repair" into a charge of $200 for a replacement. If I could rate zero stars I would.

On March 26, 2017, I reviewed this washer. My review was posted on April 1, 2017 with a response from Kristin at Maytag advising that it was being removed because I no longer owned this machine. I don't know why Kristin thinks that. I DO still own this machine and continue to have the same issues. This machine replaced my old Maytag Neptune, which I loved.

I bought this washer in Nov. 2015. It worked well until 6 weeks after the warranty expired when the spin cycle began to not function properly. I made 3 service calls. According to the technician, if the load does not contain the precise, exact proportion of large and small items, it can become unbalanced during the spin cycle. The machine is designed to make a certain number of attempts to re-balance the load. If it is not successful, it will have a hissy fit and just quit, leaving a soggy, dripping mess. The problem is that it is not consistent. For example, I just washed a load of 3 twin-size sheets and 3 pillow cases. The washer didn't like it and quit with 11 minutes left on the spin cycle. I washed the identical load last week and it was fine. It's driving me nuts! I don't have the time or patience to deal with a temperamental, prima donna washer. One more thing: it's NOISY. Unfortunately, you can't return a major appliance, so I am left with 2 equally unacceptable options: live with it, or buy a new one. To make matters worse, my washer and dryer are stacked due to space limitations in my condo's small kitchen. So, if I choose to replace the washer, I will have to replace the dryer also, a double expense. I have had a number of washers of various types and brands; this one is the worst. It is definitely not worthy of the Maytag name.

some problems getting started

had to contact the appliance store where i purchased the washer, the day of and told them i had problems getting started. a repairman came out, we got the washer to work. did my laundry and decided to see if the clean function worked. it did for a minute before error code came up (22), and then I called maytag to tell them about the problem. they sent another repairman and he said the computer/dial wasn't working properly. he comes tomorrow to replace two items that were/are more than likely the cause of the problems i experienced.

some trouble getting started

I had some trouble getting started with my washer. first when i ran the first load the lights would flash on the unit, and after calling the place i bought it from sent out a repairman, i then found out the door wasn't properly closed, or sealed for the lock to enable. after running my loads, i decided to clean it just to see if there were other problems with the unit. so, i did. it got about i minute into the cleaning cycle before an F22 error message came up on the unit, with the lights flashing. I called maytag and they're sending out a repairman to look at it. the call center didn't know what the error code stood for, but after researching on the internet, the door lock or ccu might be bad. will find out tomorrow. as far as the washer is concerned, the clothes came out clean and drum handles surprisingly large loads given its size.

We've had this machine since November 2016 and it is now March 3, 2017 and the machine has not worked since the end of January. An error message oh A-10, a water pump problem, comes up and the repair techs from the place where it was purchased cannot fix it. Two new water pumps have been ordered and it still does not work. Within less than a year, we had to have it worked on. Since then, it has been one thing after another. The reason we bought it was the Maytag name. Come to find out, there is actually no "Maytag Man". They source their repair work out to 3rd party contractors and getting one to your house is very difficult. Today, we finally got a repair man out, and said the error message didn't make sense and he couldn't figure out what was wrong with it. So what now Maytag?

As several other reviewers have noted, this washer does reliably drain. It seems to do OK with medium to large (but not stuffed) loads of synthetic fabrics. Any small loads of cottons (tees, towels, or small area rugs) seem not to get spun and drained. I have spent literally several hours watching the control panel to try to figure out what is happening. I think its little brain says it does not need to spin, even though I try to finish off these sopping wet loads with the drain and spin cycle. If Maytag would simply make it spin and drain without thinking, this issue might be manageable. But the washer thinking it knows more than you do, it can take many tries to get a load drained enough to move it to the drier. This is my 4th or 5th front loader, and it is by far the worst. I am very disappointed in the washer and will likely not buy this brand in the future. I have had this machine for a bit more than a year.

Works well

I have done about 5 loads and so far so good. Cleans well . Loads are small and take about 50 minutes to run through. Spins well so clothes take less time to dry. I keep the door open after each load to dry the rubber seal same as I do for my front loader at home.

I bought this to replace a compact Maytag set 8 years ago. There are less computerized and very simple. The spin cycle is very good. Clothes come out very dry. The door handle has been greatly improved from the previous model. Much more durable. The washer cleans very well and is very efficient with constant use. We don't baby this thing.

the pump was bad a soon as it was installed. It took a week to get it replaced. I asked the repairman to check the dryer because we never had that running; turned out the timer on the dryer was bad and the thing would not heat. How would Maytag rate this set?

This washer came with the condo unit I purchased and the year warranty had finished on September 2016. Three months later and there are issues with the controls and my cycles won't even complete. If I replace the washer then I'll have to get the same model as it has to match the dryer. Might as well just pay for a new washer and dryer with a different brand to avoid the inevitable 1-2 year replacement. Very unhappy, I would not recommend!!!

If I could give it 0 stars I would. Had it for almost 1 1/2 yrs. Cant even count how many times i had to manually drain the washer before I can do no more and was giving me a totally different error. The first time had it serviced (almost 2 months before it was actually fixed!), thankfully it was still under warranty. After just 3 months it broke AGAIN! Now with no more warranty, parts and labor for this is not cheap! Service guys for this also had a hard time figuring it out, not sure if it should be taken against the guys or the actual machine. NEVER EVER BUY THIS, if you're buying a condo make sure to ask what brand they are installing for your unit!

We loved this machine until it hit its 2 year anniversary. It is however very light and it liked to walk across the room no matter how well it was leveled and it did not matter the size of the load. Then we started getting this F06 message. We cleaned the drain and still had the issue. We looked online for fixes and saw that the motor drive brushes could be causing the problem. As it technically was out of warranty, my mechanic husband followed the videos we found and took the motor out and yep - one of the brushes was bad. After many hours of research we found that you could not buy these brushes even though they screw on to the motor. How dumb that you would not sell this service part! They sell them in the UK for the equivilant model They want over $500 for a new drive motor. That wasn't going to happen... do we buy a machine and expect to get 2 years out of it! What happened to Maytag's lasting forever? Our last one was over 20 years and we still have the wringer washer in our garage for tough stuff! Finally we saw online that Maytag was warrantying the drive motors for 10 years! If we'd known that we'd never opened the machine up. After much discussion, they did finally warranty the drive motor. The machine is up and purring again! Maybe we'll get another 2 years. BTW in further inspection the electrician said there was more damage inside the motor - it wasn't just the brushes! And for the Maytag serviceman - he showed up the first time without the requested motor or authorization! This just added another level of frustration on top of everything else! Yes, this is an update to a previous review! This is on the service - it would get 0 Stars!

TOTAL PIECE OF JUNK

I purchased this machine on June 4, 2012. In the first month the pump stopped working and the service person also changed the circuit board on a second trip. About 6 months after that the soap dispenser disintegrated. In 2014 The circuit boards were replaced after waiting for the parts for about 8 weeks. In August of this year the machine again refused to start, the circuit boards were again replaced after 6 weeks of waiting for the parts. The new parts were defective and now it has been more than 45 days waiting for new circuit boards and a knob that are needed to get this machine running again. I have been told by the service plan provider that there is no time frame that the parts will be available. I am glad that I purchased the extended service plan but what good is it if the parts are no longer available???? I am really tired of the trips to the Laundromat when I have an inoperative machine sitting in my kitchen.

Motor brushes gone at 2 years, parts not sold by mfg

The washer walked during the spin cycle ever since we got it. Now at two years, we keep getting an F06 error. after a lot of research, we found that the Tachometer/Motor brushes are bad. Maytag/Whirlpool will not sell these brushes in the US. They will only sell a new motor. Why would you not sell parts that are screwed on and obviously meant to be replaced. If I'm going to spend that much money on a new motor, I'm buying a new machine.

Motor Broken in less than 2 years: DO NOT BUY

The worst quality. I bought this because this was the size to fit small space in our condo. IT shows F06 as error code. I called and followed their procedure whether it starts again but not. They scheduled technician a week from then. Technician came and found that the inside of the motor wire is not wired. All he needs is to replace the motor. The estimate is more than $600. We got charged about $160 for technician inspection that just telling us to add more cost. This machine have had issues like it just did not start from the beginning. We needed to push cancel button and wait about 3 ~ 5min to unlock the door. Opened the door and close to restart, but many times, this just repeated same error and we had to do cancel again. We were very frustrated with the condition and now the motor which should be the most reliable parts to run drum. This is fundamental problem and I would suggest not to buy any of the machines from Maytag because there is a possibility same issue would happen to others as well because I assume company quality standard would be the same for other product. I would suggest that NEVER THINK TO BUY THIS washing machine.

Mold and bad odors

I purchased a previous version of this model with the understanding that Maytag products were built to last and were of very good quality. Since I began using it I have had serious issues with mold growth inside the washer and very bad odors, as well. I tried special cleaners several times to no avail. I recently found out that there is a class action settlement for Maytag front loading washers with these very same issues. Unfortunately, my model is not on the list. So I must continue to put up with the mold and odors. I am very disappointed. I will no longer be purchasing any Maytag products, nor will I be recommending them.

I bought this washer in July of 2015. In September of 2016 the outside drum broke leaking water all over my floor. Had repair guy come and he said there was a hole in the drum and they took it back to the shop where i bought it. I was told it was out of warranty and also they found some change and piec of pocket knife? in between the outter and inner drum and that cause a large hole to be punctured in it. I asked how the stuff got in there and they said it happens-it can get thru the seal. So I paid $500 to have an $800 washer repaired-they replaced outter and inner drum. Funny thing is the new seal between drum and door completely covers the gap-the original one left part of the gap open. The place where I bought it told me they would get me the parts at cost, and told me no need to contact you guys. I also asked for the seriel number but they said they couldn't find it? I get washer back and do a load and my polo shirts come out ruined-found a metal burr on inside of metal drum. Not thrilled.

Compact Washer That Fits Into Small A Space

I brought this washer in July 2014 & began using it in Aug. 2014. I did not abuse my washer, never fill-up with too much clothes, use only HE detergent (like what instruction advise), and even wipe it down after every use to avoid mildew. I usually do laundry on an average of 1 to 3 times per week. By Nov. 2014, the drain pump already needs replacement under the manufacturer warranty by Dan Marc Appliance (with their excellent service). In Aug. 2016, the drain pump stops working again. I called in for service under the Maytag service repair plan and it was a hassle to deal with Superior Appliance (repair men didn't show up on time & didn't even call to reschedule, I had to call Superior at least 4 times). Finally, my washer was fixed. With 2 repair services in a 2 year time frame, I would not recommend this washer & it was a big mistake to purchase this washer in retrospect. My last washer, Malber, also a compact washer (Italian design) lasted over 16 years without a single repair. In comparison, Maytag has lots of catching up to do in terms of durability & design. I am highly disappointed with my current washer except the fact that it was compact in size so that it fits into the small space available for the machine.

I bought my washing machine in February 2016 It started giving me problems with the drain/spin cycle but only when loundry is in the machine, otherwise it works fine although a very fickle washer I must admit. I learned to read the reviews prior to purchasing anything and certainly will read the reviews for another washer. Live and learn

Had this for a year now works well and doesn't smell bad. Only had 1 issue with it when a sock got stuck in the drainage and caused problems with the rinse cycle. I am not sure how it got there..we removed it and it haven't happened since.

I bought the washer and dryer less than two years ago and the washer stopped working. It spins once and then stops. I bought Maytag because I heard about the quality of their products however they have let me down. I am very disappointed spending this kind of money should guarantee a machine to work more than two years. Now it is discontinued and after reading the other reviews I can see why. Maytag used to stand for American quality unfortunately after this purchase the quality aspect of Maytag has disappeared.

ZERO STARS - DO NOT BUY THIS MACHINE

I just had the 7th repair visit on this machine. Yep, 7th. The machine was purchased in October 2014 and has always been finicky. In March of this year, it quit draining completely. In two visits, the repairman replaced two sensors. It worked, but I'd occasionally, and then more frequently, continue to have issues with lights, no spinning/draining. Finally, it quit spinning and draining altogether, so I purchased the "Repair Plus One" package from Maytag (the first "repair" was covered under warranty) for $350. Over the next FIVE visits, the repairmen cleared the drain hose, replaced the door latch switches, and told me I had "sudsing". Each visit, I was given a new set of rules for the machine, which amounted to: 1) Clothes the door gently but firmly near the latch. Never slam the door. 2) Put all small items in garment bags. ***The owner's manual says nothing about this - just to watch out for items the size of loose change, but there was a small WASHCLOTH stuck in there. 3) Do not use powdered soap 4) Only use one tablespoon of liquid soap (Again, the owner's manual only says to use HE soap. I've always used the recommended amount). 5) Don't use the NORMAL cycle (seriously?). After all of this, THE MACHINE STILL DOES NOT WORK. Repairman #3 (visit 5) came back and said that I was still having a sudsing issue - likely because the machines at the laundromat are not rinsing the clothes well, but this is obviously not the only problem with this machine. I am so angry and frustrated right now. This machine was expensive. The repair and so-called warranty were expensive, and the laundromat is expensive. I guess I will spend another $20 tomorrow at the laundromat with my 6 month old baby. And then I will try to figure out a way to purchase a new machine. After reading all of these other reviews, it is appalling to me that Maytag does not issue a recall on these machines. Clearly, there are major design flaws and workmanship issues. Just plain wrong.

Epic fail

I purchased this water in November, hooked it up in January and by July it stopped working. To make matters worse the service department at Maytag/whirlpool is AWFUL. They scheduled the service appointment and had wrong phone numbers for me and the service people. Hence we had delays, then the lost all record of parts that we needed, lost another 3 weeks. After 45 minutes on the phone they said they would manufacture a new part and send it out.....another 1-2 weeks. Meanwhile I have no water and they don't care. Really disappointed with this water. It had very little use as it is used for only my husband and myself, so it's not been abused by any means. The control board has to be replaced as well as the latch. Iff you are looking for a compact washer look beyond this model.

Nightmare of a washer experience

I've had this washer less than two years - in the past few months draining and spinning problems - have had two different appliance repair companies in, have spent more than $450, and today I decided to cut my losses, lower my stress level, and buy a new washer. It will NOT be Maytag or Whirlpool, never again.

As I had previously owned this model and I needed to replace it was 8 years old and tech said it wasn't worth fixing, I purchased the same as my basement stairwell is very narrow. My machine is not yet 2 years old and it broke. F2 and F6 codes, lights up but won't operate. The tech said it is the main computer and would cost $450 to fix! I can't afford the repair and I am still paying for this machine. I can't get a human being on the phone but tried the live chat. They weren't helpful at all and said they could offer a discount on another machine. I would never buy Maytag again! I will contact the BBB and other consumer groups with my complaints. Maytag should stand behind their product, especially with so many people having the same problem!

We have had many of the same problems that others have mentioned (flashing lights, won't start, clothes still overly damp after spin cycle, not very user friendly) and the latest is the start button is recessed into the machine and won't start the cycle. Bought this based on the Maytag name and have not been pleased,with the performance. Time to start looking for another brand. Very disappointed.

We've had this machine 1 yr 10 mos and it has fully died. However we had problems with it from the very beginning having to manually drain it ~1/month. This machine is awful. I wouldn't buy a Maytag again.

I purchased this machine in 2013 along with the matching dryer. I have been having problems with the flashing lights, not wanting to start, door would not lock/drain, not able to cancel, spin cycle does not sufficiently extract the water doesn't go into high speed spin. The first repairman replaced the pump but the problem still continued. I had a new service man come in, he told me told me that it was the main board and to replace would exceed the cost of a new machine. That is if he could find the part. If the machine is still being sold why wouldn't parts be available for it. Why are the so expensive.
